SPORTING a very dynamic appearance coupled with an impeccable finish, this showcar from Audi makes no secret to its potential.
At the heart of this Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro is a 2.5 litre five cylinder petrol engine with turbocharging and direct injection that has been tuned dramatically to 370 Kw (503hp) and 660 Nm (486.79 lb-ft) of torque.
The Audi weighs in at just 1,390 kilograms and as a result the highly tuned powerplant propels the car from 0 – 100km/h (62.14mph) in 3.7 seconds and incredibly from 0 – 200km/h (124.27mph) in 10.9 seconds.
A six-speed manual transmission and Quattro permanent all-wheel drive deliver the power to all four wheels with the top speed governed to 250km/h (155.34mph).
19 inch alloy wheels shod in low profile 255/30 rubber keep this car firmly on the tarmac. Sitting behind those wheels are internally vented disc brakes, six-piston calibers grab perforated carbon fibre-ceramic discs up front and large steel discs are mounted on the rear axle.
The body of the car has a glacier white matt paint finish and is offset by a stunning roof arch in high-gloss black which supports a roof made from a carbon fibre-polymer.
Designed as a road car for the race track, this showcar has no rear seats and in their place is a large crossbar that adds further stiffening to the body and storage for race helmets.
Audi have announced that many of the features of the Clubsport Quattro will soon start appearing as accessories for the A1 family of cars, which they are steadily expanding.
